Deseret Peak

Luckily Rina was able to join me, we wanted to get out for a good hike somewhere new. So, to Deseret Peak we went. Luckily there was a note online to warn us of a road closure adding 3-4 miles to the whole adventure, but we had plenty of time & a perfect day. It was very nice, wildflowers & amazing views...still feeling it all in the legs today. Zelli will be sleeping for the next couple days I'm sure. Enjoy the pics....

The Salsbury mountains from the road...Deseret Peak (last on left)

Here we go! 8:30am start at the car

The trail looked almost like winter...it was raining cotton EVERYWHERE!

We emerged out of the forest into the meadow! Pretty!

Quick break for snacks & water

After a few minutes...we could see the Great Salt Lake...then we KNEW we were getting places! Nice!

Happy to be at the saddle (2 hours in)...0.5 miles to go & 1,000 more to gain. Windy, but pretty!

SNOW crossing (luckily not too many or too long) Zelli is always a fan!

Heading towards the summit...legs don't fail me now!

We made it: Deseret Peak 11,031 feet!

Rina checking out the view back towards the summit

Zell..should we come back for you later? Soaking in the (pine needle & dirt covered) snow.

All of a sudden we came around a corner & this is what we saw! Neat!

Flowers abound!

One last refresh before heading down.
We arrived back at the trailhead just before 3pm, & headed for home shortly after that. Who knew that GIANT rice krispy treats were in order (one of Rina's favorites)! Good times & a great hike! The boys & Lucy the dog will have to join us next time too!
