Terrific Touring!!!

Jeremy is keeping his dad Emmet younger & younger by helping him buy more & more toys...isn't that the way to do it? Anyways, Emmet snagged some demo backcountry ski touring gear at an end-of-the-season sale (even though it's pretty much in mint condition) so we took him out to play with us. We headed up to "Pink pine" in Little Cottonwood Canyon (pink, because it's right between Red & White pine lake trails), just west of Snowbird. About an hour from the car we get to finally ski DOWNhill instead of UPhill! Whew! Good work Emmet, glad you could join us. The snow actually turned out to be kind of decent considering the thick layer of crust underneath. If you could find smooth, untracked spaces it was nice, and warm enough out to enjoy ourselves at the top & eat some treats. Pretty big smiles from Emmet after our first run down...he thinks he's done going UPhill, not so...another lap for us! Get movin' fellas!

Along the ridge, almost up to our DOWNhill point!

Views of the peaks (towards Mt. Superior) through the drifting clouds

This is alright, huh Emmet?!

The boys

Pretty day! Glad to see some sun! Wish you were here!

Happy Easter!

We hope everyone had a fabulous Easter! Here's Zelli with her latest & best friend, the Hip Hop Bunny. It sings, dances, the whole works (see video below!)...she is pretty intrigued. We enjoyed a quick ski tour for our beautiful Easter day. Happy Easter!!!

Mill Creek Yurt III

We were fortunate enough to get to head up the trail once again with our friends Rob & Rina. This time in very different conditions: warm (like seriously could have worn shorts on the way up!), sunny, & clear blue skies! The doggies (Zelli & Lucy) got to come along as well & did some stellar ski touring with us, logging close to 3,000 vertical feet each day & roughly 15 miles total over our 3 days away from home. No new snow on this trip, but gorgeous days none the less. We hunted for some soft snow & found a few good stashes on the northern aspects of the peaks...everything else was sun-baked crust for sure! A brief bull moose sighting just before heading home. Can't wait to go back next year!

The boys & dogs made it up to the ridge just in time for sunset.

Zelli takes a rest in the shaded soft POW!

Scenic sights on a beautiful day

Zelli is part of the team too!

Look closely...Jeremy catches "air" of his hand built "booter" (aka jump)

Zelli & Rina soaking in the sun & sights

That's right...jump for joy. Zelli thinks we're nuts, others agree. :)

All smiles at the summit! A good days work!

Dog & Mr. Master....this is the life huh Zelli?

Zelli summits again, a new ridgeline near Little Water Peak!

Zelli geared up for the run (4.6 miles) back to the car...she'd much rather stay & sleep at the yurt! Gear up pooch!
