Acclimation

My dad came out to SLC for several days in order to get used to the altitude for an attempt on the Grand Teton, mom decided to join in on the fun. We hiked them up for an overnight at Lake Blanche, summit of Pfifferhorn, & a day hike to Dog lake. We ate just about every meal on the deck & off the grill and had a great time together. We're still trying to convince them to move out here!!! Getting closer perhaps...now dad is convinced South Mountain may have the paragliding he's looking to get into (we didn't get any pics of him flying, bummer).

Enjoying the Aspens along the trail

20 minutes to the lake?!?!

Perfect time for the sunset on the peaks & to grab a tent site before dark!

Liking the lake life (no boating on this one though)

Red Pine lake on the way to Pfifferhorn

Still going up....

Ascending above the lakes
Mom getting tough on the "knife edge" ridge

Los tres amigos tag the summit! Yippeee! Way to go flatlanders!

Road trippin' to Washington

We took 2 weeks to drive on up & around through the evergreen state of Washington...& discovered exactly why it is evergreen. It was cool & cloudy (with a sprinkle of rain here & there) after their record breaking heat the week before, go figure. We imagined LOTS of the mountains, cause we didn't get to see many...but that just means we'll have to go back! We were fortunate to visit & stay with several friends along the way. Our main agenda...my friend Nicole's wedding in Seattle, sea kayaking, Chehalis (town where Jeremy grew up), Mt. Rainier (we got 3/4 the way to the summit then had 60mph winds & rapidly decreasing visability!), backpacking the North Cascades, rafting, "relaxing" in Couer D'Alene lake in Idaho & more. We kept on the move & rarely spent more than one night in one place. Believe it or not, there was even a scheduled "rest" day in the trip agenda in which we enjoyed a wildlife park & close views of many animals. In the end we traveled through a total of 5 states. We had a lovely time, but were happy to be home with our dog & in our own beds in the end. Here's some of our adventures...

Bear with me...I'm waiting for the pictures to show up...otherwise click on "view all images" if you like.
