Marvelous Moab

We finally got a chance to get out of town & headed to the desert (now that the ski resort is closed). We loaded up the mountain bikes & went down to Moab. We arrived ~8pm Friday night, in need of a campsite...after an hour of driving around we luckily grabbed a spot in the not-so-sweet RV/camp park. Since it came with a definite bonus of a hot tub, pool, & showers we decided it wasn't so bad. Turns out there was a "car show" in town & all the skiers migrated south for the weekend as well we were sure. It was the busiest, windiest, coolest (well, cool for the desert, at least not sweltering HOT!) I have seen Moab. We had a good time, a great get away! We didn't take a ton of pics, but here's a few....
Monitor & Merrimac:
Yep, I've tried this trail twice before...now can check it off the list!

Approaching Monitor with Merrimac in the background, the slick rock & sandy trail

If cameras could only capture the fact that the wind was practically blowing us over & off of our bikes! Let's get out of here!

Views of the red rock domes over Potash Road. We'll have to hit that up for a hike & road bike next time, camping maybe too!

The "dreadful" Sovereign trail...YEP, I've tried this one twice too! Finally! Can check it off the list, even though I only went out, not out & back (couldn't pay me enough $$$ to do it!) Jeremy is a fan of flowers in the desert, the only pics we took on the whole trail = red flowers! :)

Mt. Timponogos
We saw our car thermometer go from 65 to 28 degrees on the drive home, encountering snow (poor bikes on top of the car) & all. Precisely why we left for the weekend! Good times!

Spring into Earth day!

So, our neighbors are jealous of our gorgeous trees (and they should be!). Here's a pic of them on Earth day, beautiful blossoms & all. Turns out we had to go to the DMV to pick up our current registration....so we biked there instead of driving. They even had a "drive thru" that we decided to "bike thru!" 30 miles can be a bit tough on the bike butt that isn't used to the saddle yet, per Jeremy. We'll go easy on him next time...maybe. :)
Jeremy still refuses to admit that winter is "over" but I can claim it's Spring after Alta closes. He starts to give in a little more after a few mountain & road bike rides...he loves it, he knows it!!!
HAPPY SPRING!!!

Closing time

Well sadly enough, our local favorite ski resort, Alta, is now officially closed for the season. Not to worry though cause there is still plenty of snow (160" base!) & several more storms to come we're sure! It was a beautiful blue bird day...which meant they opened up the Baldy Mountain chutes...which meant Emmet had to go to the top! Fun times and another great season (677" so far!).
Emmet & Jeremy taking it "from the top" Mt. Baldy!
Showing off my (well, Jeremy's really) sweet suit closing day silly style ( & his NEW skis, yes, another pair!)

Emmet made it! It's not so bad...(the chute in the background)

Doesn't mean I'll ski with you....
Who could resist that hairdo?
Among the hundreds gathered on top of "High Rustler" along with mohawks, Sponge Bob, a referee (complete w/ penalty cards!), cheerleaders, jester, & all sorts of other wacky stuff! Firecrackers, boombox dance party, birthday cakes, etc. Watch out!

The canyon road was closed for several hours until 6pm due to high temps causing avalanches to come down across the road home...let the good times roll! Looking forward to many more face shots in the future!
