We headed off to a 3 day Avalanche class early Saturday morning, February 16th up at Brighton ski resort. With a class of around 30 people we became snow scientists: we practiced our beacon search & rescue skills, determined safe travel routes with terrain management skills, dug & examined snow pits, & benefited from "classroom" lectures from many experienced avalanche forecasters & experts. Who knew class could be fun? The weather cooperated wonderfully & it was great to be outside all day! We stayed at the Wasatch Mountain Club lodge (log cabin-like), bunk style & even had electricity, running HOT! water, & flush toilets. Here's a few pics...
